Frequently Asked Questions About MSH Elite Choice Individual Health Plan
Q1: Which insurer underwrites this product, and who provides the services?
The MSH Elite Choice Individual Health Plan is underwritten by China Continent Property & Casualty Insurance Company Ltd., with professional services provided by MSH CHINA. This individual medical insurance product spans the mid-market to high-end segments and is designed to balance medical care quality, breadth of coverage and value for money for individuals and families at different life stages. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in international health insurance services, MSH CHINA is responsible for operational support, the nationwide Direct Billing Network and customer service.
Q2: Who is this product suitable for?
The plan is suitable for individuals and families who value medical care quality and cost-effective protection, including middle-class families seeking pre-existing condition coverage and outpatient benefits, and people wishing to upgrade from general medical services to care in VIP Departments and International Departments. Children aged six and above can enroll independently without a parent enrolling alongside them. A child who has reached age six at application may enroll independently as the principal insured person.
Q3: How does this plan differ from standard medical insurance with coverage in the millions of RMB?
Compared with conventional medical insurance with coverage in the millions of RMB, the MSH Elite Choice Individual Health Plan places greater emphasis on the actual care experience. It supports treatment in public hospital General Departments, VIP Departments and International Departments, as well as designated private medical institutions. MSH's nationwide Direct Billing Network and professional medical service system enable cashless care. The plan also offers optional pre-existing condition coverage: through manual underwriting, eligible conditions present before coverage begins, such as hypertension, high blood glucose, high blood lipids, nodules, stones and gastritis, can receive dedicated coverage with limits that increase annually.
Q4: What does the product cover?
The plan centers on inpatient coverage. Inpatient treatment covers hospital room and board; an accompanying person's bed; intensive care; surgery; treatment, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy; diagnostic examinations, including MRI, PET and CT; inpatient medicines; rehabilitation; and durable medical equipment. Special Outpatient Treatment covers outpatient care before admission and after discharge, outpatient kidney dialysis, anti-rejection treatment following organ transplantation, outpatient treatment of malignant tumors including proton and heavy ion therapy, outpatient surgery and day hospitalization. Plans B and C include overseas specialty drug coverage: after at least three lines of treatment in China, members may receive specialty drugs not approved for marketing in mainland China in Hong Kong, Singapore or Japan, up to RMB 2 million per year. Plan C additionally provides outpatient coverage with an annual limit of RMB 30,000. The product has two versions, including or excluding pre-existing conditions; switching between the two versions is not permitted at renewal.
Q5: Where can I receive medical treatment?
Geographical coverage is mainland China, with overseas specialty drug benefits under Plans B and C extending to Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan. Plan A covers public hospital General Departments, VIP Departments and International Departments and designated private medical institutions, but excludes three leading International Departments: Peking Union Medical College Hospital in Beijing, China-Japan Friendship Hospital and Huashan Hospital in Shanghai. Plans B and C cover public hospital General Departments, VIP Departments and International Departments and designated private medical institutions without these exclusions.
Q6: What are the key features?
Key features of the MSH Elite Choice Individual Health Plan include: medical coverage with an annual maximum of up to RMB 8 million under the highest plan; optional pre-existing condition coverage for eligible conditions present before coverage begins, with limits increasing annually and full reimbursement as agreed from the fourth year; independent enrollment for children without a parent enrolling alongside them; coverage for public hospital General Departments, VIP Departments and International Departments and designated private hospitals; cashless care through a Direct Billing Network of more than 370 partner hospitals nationwide; overseas specialty drug benefits under designated plans, covering locations including Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan; coverage for Special Outpatient Treatment and advanced therapies such as proton and heavy ion therapy and targeted therapy; a Second Medical Opinion, critical illness case management and Medical Coordination; and 24/7 customer service, claims support and health consultation.
