Outpatient expenses within 90 days before and after hospitalization are covered. Special Outpatient Treatment covers outpatient surgery, kidney dialysis, anti-rejection treatment following organ transplantation, and electrotherapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, endocrine therapy, and proton and heavy ion therapy for malignant tumors, with full reimbursement. Optional outpatient benefits cover physician consultations, specialist visits, prescription medicines, laboratory tests and diagnostic examinations, physiotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, sleep studies and treatment, and mental illnesses, within the annual outpatient limit. For residents outside Beijing and Tianjin, illustrative annual premiums for inpatient plus outpatient coverage with a zero deductible under the Greater China option excluding High Cost Providers are approximately RMB 15,872 for ages 25–29, RMB 20,741 for ages 35–39 and RMB 33,675 for ages 50–54. Inpatient-only coverage with a zero deductible under the same geographical and hospital option costs approximately RMB 5,722 per year for ages 25–29 and RMB 8,336 for ages 35–39. Inpatient-only plans offer deductibles of RMB 0 / 12,000 / 30,000 / 50,000; the latter three provide premium discounts of 25%, 45% and 60%, respectively. A 5% family discount is available.
