When a family member is hospitalized, even if we stay constantly by their side, we can still feel completely helpless. With the MSH 24-hour emergency medical aid, as well as a specialist medical team, we can safely entrust our loved ones to the best care in China and around the world.

A few days before New Year’s Eve with the year of the horse in sight, Mr. Wang was admitted into the hospital’s emergency ward because of severe edema in his lower limbs below the waist. After the doctor examined him, he was immediately transferred to the emergency unit. At this time his condition suddenly turned dangerous, so he was again transferred to the emergency unit for first aid treatment. His final diagnosis by the hospital is stage 3 hypertension (high risk), and they wanted him to be immediately transferred to the ICU for treatment. With her loved one in critical condition, Mrs. Wang completely forgot the joy of New Year’s Eve.

The specialized medical terms made her head spin, the hospital didn’t have beds available and it was hard to arrange a place for her husband. Continuing on required a large amount of money and a strong heart, but Mrs. Wang was not fighting it alone. Grace, an MSH medical commissioner, and Nancy, an MSH hospital representative were continually by her side. They helped her through all of the administrative hurdles and contacted MSH network hospitals for her. They arranged doctors from different hospitals to provide the Mr. Wang with multiple consultations and had discussions with the hospital in order to arrange the best treatment available. After five days, early in the morning, he was successfully transferred to the ICU at Fu Wai hospital which specializes in cardiac diseases. Tina, an MSH customer service representative also rushed to the hospital to visit Mr. and Mrs. Wang.

It was now three days before New Year’s Eve. Grace, concerned that the holidays may delay remittance for Mr. Wang medical expenses, once again went to Fu Wai hospital and confirmed the advanced payment. She also consulted with doctors about the next step in the treatment plan. The doctor declared that Mr. Wang’s medical condition had stabilized and that he was ready to be discharged. Upon receiving this news, everyone was overjoyed. Without a second thought, Grace helped Mrs. Wang to make the direct billing payments and to complete all the necessary discharge formalities.

In the end, Mrs. Wang felt great relief and shared the last couple of days of her emotions and fears with Grace, the greatest fear being that of losing her husband one at anytime. Still, despite all that she experienced, what she mentioned over and over again was her gratitude for the support that MSH China provided her and her family.
