As of today February 17, according to official figures more than 70,500 people in China have been infected by the COVID-19; with confirmed cases in more than 25 countries. In Hubei, the center of the outbreak, cases reported stand at 58,182 with 1,696 deaths.

How to protect ourselves from Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia?

1. We should try our best avoiding going out.

2. If you need to go out, make sure you wear a mask and change it every four hours. Surgical masks or N95 type masks offer a better protection than cotton masks or Pitta mask.

3. Wash your hands frequently.

4. When back from outside, you should properly dispose your mask: take off the mask at the door, put it into a trash bag. Spray the bag with a 75% alcohol solution to disinfect, then seal it. All the items you bring back home should be sterilized with 75% alcohol as well. Your jacket, scarfs and other clothes should be taken off at the door and ventilated by the window.

After that you should thoroughly wash your hands with water and soap or use a alcohol-based hand rub if you can't wash your hands immediately.  Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

5. If you get mild symptoms, try to isolate yourself at home and observe. Don't panic.

If you do have more than 37.3°C fever for several days and other symptoms such as dry cough, difficulty in breathing, diarrhea please immediately go to hospital.
